The Premier League Enterprise Challenge

Posted on: 11/12/2018

This year’s Premier League Enterprise Challenge team were Abdullah, Raymond, Alfie, Rhianna and Harley. Their brief given to them by Richard Scudamore and was to encourage 18-23 year olds to purchase season tickets and merchandise from Leicester City Football Club. Harvey immediately came up with an interesting idea during the launch day. After the first workshop the group had used Harvey’s initial idea and developed this into Leicester City Football Club developing a partnership with a local gym, offering a discounted membership with a season ticket purchase. They also created an app which has many features including a point tracker which gives further discount on merchandise from the club by collecting points for various things.

The students worked extremely well in all 3 workshops where they developed their idea. They conducted research and developed a business plan, including expenditure and profit and loss. During the heats they delivered their presentation very professionally in front of 4 business people in a dragons den format. They were extremely resilient during their presentation when there were 2 security announcements during their presentation and they handled themselves very well and did not let this phase them. They all responded articulately and confidently when the dragons questioned them after their pitch. They had an agonising wait for the winner to be announced. Unfortunately on this occasion we were not victorious, however the dragons commented how original the idea was. One dragon in particular was really interested in their idea and thought it had a lot of mileage.

The students worked really well together throughout this process and put a lot of effort into their finished presentation. On the day they conducted themselves in a professional way and representing Babington in an excellent manner. They were a pleasure to work with during the whole process and they made me proud to be Babington.
