Our first annual Christmas Tree FestivalPosted on: 21/12/2018
On Wednesday 20th December we held our first, much anticipated, Christmas Tree Festival. The theme of the event was to celebrate our beautifully diverse school community and brought together students, parents, siblings, staff, Trustees, our CEO and members of our local community including two of our local Police Officers.
Students, parents and staff had been busy creating decorations for the trees to reflect our school community. Bright, colourful, sparkling decorations that showed individuality and once they were brought together on the trees really did create a magical display reflecting the essence of our community.
Throughout the day, each year group came to the auditorium to celebrate. The event was opened up by our newly formed choir singing, “This is me” from the Greatest Showman. We all sang and smiled together and the warmth of togetherness of our community absolutely shone through. Victory, a year 9 student, read her thoughts about the importance of community and loving thy neighbour and we had a period of reflection with the reading of our multi-faith prayer. Finally, the choir closed the event with, “A million Dreams” a very fitting end to the festival.
In the evening we were joined by our wider school community to celebrate the festival and enjoyed refreshments baked by staff and students. At the event our GCSE Citizenship group led a food bank donation table.
We would like to thank everyone who contributed to what was a very special event. We are already planning next year’s festival!
